Wedding Illustration at The Upper House, Barlaston
Not every wedding commission involves me sitting at a wedding drawing guests.
Sometimes, couples want something created specifically for their wedding, but the artwork itself happens before or after the day.
That's exactly what I did for Terri & Jake at The Upper House in Barlaston.
A four-hour live illustration booking
The wedding itself included a four-hour live illustration slot, giving guests the opportunity to have their own illustrations created during the celebrations.
Four hours can be a really useful option for couples who want live illustration to be part of their day without committing to a longer booking.
It's particularly suited to smaller weddings or couples who have a specific part of the day in mind for their illustrator.
A personal commission alongside the live illustration
Alongside the live illustrations, I also created a personal commission for the couple.
This is one of the things I love about illustration as a wedding service.
It doesn't have to stop with guest portraits.
You can create artwork around the things that are meaningful to you as a couple — your venue, a special moment, your home, your pets or somewhere that holds a particular memory.
A wedding illustration can therefore become something much more personal than simply a piece of entertainment.
The Upper House, Barlaston
The Upper House is a country house hotel in Barlaston, Staffordshire, with a range of spaces for weddings and celebrations. Its largest event space can accommodate up to 100 guests for a sit-down meal, while the Orangery can accommodate smaller celebrations.
It's the sort of venue where a shorter live illustration booking can work particularly well.
You can have an illustrator there for a focused period of the day, allowing guests to enjoy the experience while keeping the rest of the wedding schedule moving.
Live illustration and bespoke artwork
I think this combination is particularly lovely.
Your guests get the live experience.
And you get something that's completely yours to keep.
The two don't have to be the same illustration style or format either — they can be designed around what you want from your wedding.
Looking for something personal for your wedding?
If you're getting married at The Upper House or another country house venue and want something beyond traditional wedding entertainment, I'd love to hear what you're planning.
