Why Your Wedding Guests Will Love a Live Illustrator

When you're planning your wedding, it's easy to focus on what you want.

Your venue. Your flowers. Your dress. Your photographer. Your food.

But your guests are a huge part of the day too — and keeping them entertained is something worth thinking about.

Live wedding illustration is a little different from traditional wedding entertainment because your guests don't just watch it.

They're part of it.

It's something they can do while they mingle

A wedding day has lots of little periods where guests are naturally moving around.

After the ceremony.

During the drinks reception.

While photographs are taking place.

Before the wedding breakfast.

These moments can be perfect for live illustration because guests can come over when they're ready rather than everyone having to stop what they're doing at the same time.

They get something made especially for them

There's something lovely about receiving something that was created specifically for you.

Your guests don't just get to watch an artist work — they get their own illustration to take home.

It makes the experience feel much more personal than a generic wedding favour.

It gives people something to talk about

Weddings often bring together groups of people who don't know each other particularly well.

Live illustration can become an easy conversation starter.

Someone might see another guest having their illustration created and wander over to have a look.

Before you know it, you've got a little group gathered around the artwork, chatting and watching the process.

It's entertainment without taking over your wedding

Not everyone wants loud or high-energy entertainment throughout their wedding.

Live illustration can sit quietly within the day.

I'm there creating artwork while your guests continue to enjoy themselves around me.

There's no stage, no microphone and no requirement for everyone to participate.

It's simply there for guests who want to get involved.

And they get to take the memory home

This is probably my favourite part.

Long after your wedding day is over, your guests can still have their illustration.

It might end up on their fridge, in a frame, on their desk or tucked somewhere special.

Every time they see it, they'll have a little reminder of your wedding.

And you'll have your own collection of illustrations from the people who were there to celebrate with you.

The perfect addition to a drinks reception

If you're wondering when live illustration works best, a drinks reception is one of my favourite options.

Your guests are already mingling, there's usually a little time before the wedding breakfast and the atmosphere tends to be relaxed.

It gives me the opportunity to create lots of illustrations while guests enjoy the experience at their own pace.

Looking for something a little different?

If you want your wedding entertainment to feel personal rather than predictable, live wedding illustration could be a lovely addition to your day.

It's entertainment, a wedding favour and a keepsake all rolled into one — and most importantly, it's something your guests can actually be part of.
