5 Ways to Make Your Wedding Feel More Personal

5 Ways to Make Your Wedding Feel More Personal

Your wedding doesn't have to follow a formula.

In fact, some of my favourite wedding details are the ones that tell you something about the couple — rather than simply looking beautiful.

If you're looking for ways to make your wedding feel more personal, here are five ideas to consider.

1. Bring your story into the details

Think about the places, people and moments that have been important throughout your relationship.

Maybe there's a place where you had your first date, a favourite holiday destination or a venue that means something to you.

These little details can become part of your stationery, table names, signage or artwork.

They don't have to be obvious. Sometimes the smallest references are the most meaningful.

2. Choose details that guests can actually keep

Wedding favours don't have to be something that gets left on a table at the end of the night.

Consider giving your guests something personal that they'll genuinely want to take home.

Hand-painted glassware, personalised stationery, illustrated favours or even a small piece of artwork can make a lovely keepsake.

3. Think beyond a traditional guest book

Your guest book is another opportunity to create something personal.

Instead of a traditional book, you could ask guests to leave messages alongside photographs, illustrations or personalised cards.

You could even have your guests contribute to something you'll display in your home afterwards.

The best guest books are often the ones that you'll actually want to look at again.

4. Include the people (and pets!)
who matter to you

Your wedding is about the people you love, so don't be afraid to include them in the little details.

Family members can be incorporated into readings, photographs, table names or stationery.

And if your pet is an important part of your life, there are plenty of ways to include them too — whether they're physically there on the day or featured in your stationery and artwork.

5. Choose wedding entertainment that becomes part of the experience

Entertainment doesn't have to mean putting on a show.

Sometimes it's something your guests can interact with while the rest of the day continues around them.

Live wedding illustration is one example.

Guests can have their artwork created while they're chatting and enjoying the drinks reception, and then take the finished illustration home afterwards.

It becomes both an experience and a keepsake.

Your wedding should feel like yours

There are no rules saying you need to have a particular type of favour, guest book or entertainment.

If there's something you love, find a way to make it part of your day.

And if there's something everyone else seems to be doing but it doesn't feel like you?

You don't have to do it.

The little personal details are often what guests remember most.
